PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As a pilot project for The Salvation Army in Germany, we would like to begin by inviting young Europeans to spend a year in Berlin, volunteering with The Limelight Collective. One or two Participants will have the opportunity to work together with professional artists in creating, developing and performing in dance and theatre performances. Participants will also assist with the production aspect, being involved with set, costume and lighting design, as well as marketing and other administration. As much of our work focusses on combining performing arts with Christian spirituality, experience in understanding of and/or openness toward Christian faith is advantageous. ESC participants will be encouraged to assist and take on responsibility in children's activities and will be invited to bring in their own ideas and inspiration for new formats. Participants will be guided in the planning and execution of small and medium scale community events and programmes.

ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS

Participants will be provided with accommodation in a shared flat (in single occupancy bedrooms, but will share bathroom and kitchen facilities) as well as meals covered. Where necessary for their placement, participants will be provided with public transport tickets. If necessary, language lessons will be provided.

TRAINING DURING THE PROJECT

The Salvation Army partners with “Jugend für Europa” and “netzwerk-m” to provide participants with up to five training weeks throughout the year where volunteers can network with other volunteers in the region. netzwerk-m's introduction seminar focusses on identifying and defining personal learning goals. These learning goals, as well as other competence development, will be discussed and reflected on throughout the year, and evaluated at netzwerk-m's closing seminar at the end of the year.
